Oldcastle Theatre in Bennington postpones season, but doesn’t sit idle

Oldcastle Theatre Company was founded by five New York City actors looking to bring their craft to Vermont. Forty-eight years later, it’s staying true to its mission of bringing high-quality performances to the Green Mountain State. This season, though, that looks a little different.

Oldcastle has postponed its season due to safety concerns regarding COVID-19. While it cannot perform for a live audience, the company has used the past few months to update and maintain equipment for its eventual return. It’s also asking regular attendees to consider donating the amount they would have spent on tickets to help the company stay afloat.

“We will be back,” said Nathan Stith, interim artistic director, in a statement. “Live theater in Bennington is not going away.”
